The Comptroller of Maryland is rolling out Maryland Tax Connect for Individuals which will be an online self-service tax portal. This system is already in use by Maryland businesses and will now extend the same capabilities to individual taxpayers.

Individuals will be able to accomplish many tasks including making payments, checking the status of a refund, viewing account information, accessing tax notice information, and managing their Maryland tax obligations in one secure location. The new portal officially launches on September 1, 2026.

Upcoming Action Dates

July 24th is the last day, by 4:30 p.m., for in-person payments of paper checks to be accepted at branch offices for personal income, pass-through entity and fiduciary taxes. During this transition, only electronic payments and money orders will be accepted. The Comptroller’s office will resume accepting paper checks on September 1st.

July 29th is the last day, by 11:59 p.m., for individuals to electronically file a return or make a payment on the website. Online filing and payments for individuals will resume on Maryland Tax Connect on September 1st.

August 20th is the last day, by 11:59 p.m., to electronically file and pay business taxes via the Maryland Tax Connect portal. Normal operations resume on September 1st in Maryland Tax Connect.

August 21st -31st All systems will be down for the final migration. During this period, payments by e-check and credit card will be accepted and debited from bank accounts but will not be posted to the taxpayer’s account until after September 1st.

September 1st Maryland Tax Connect for individual filers will be live. All services will resume in the new portal.
