New Due Dates for W-3, W-2’s and 1099-MISC

The due dates for filing Forms W-3, W-2 and 1099-MISC have changed. 2016 Forms W-3 and W-2 are now required to be filed with the Social Security Administration by January 31, 2017, whether you file using paper forms or electronically. This is about one month earlier than their due dates in past years.

IRS to Begin Using Debt Collection Agencies Starting Spring 2017

The IRS announced on its website that they will begin contracting with private debt collection agencies to assist with the collection of overdue Federal tax debts.  There are four collection agencies that have already been selected to assist with the initiative, but have been informed that as part of their contracts, the agencies will have to “respect taxpayer rights including, among other things, abiding by the consumer protection provisions of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.”
