Maryland Dept. of Labor New IT System - BEACON 2.0 Launch

As of September 21, 2020, Maryland Division of Unemployment Insurance ("DUI") will be launching a new and modernized IT system. The existing system will shut down on September 16, 2020 at 5pm. Employers and third party payroll agents that process quarterly reports and maintain the current unemployment insurance account can now activate the account in the BEACON 2.0 system.

Functions of BEACON 2.0:

  • Update and manage account online
  • File quarterly reports
  • View benefit charge statements and annual tax rate information
  • Make payments online
  • File appeals
  • Provide separation information
  • Manage powers of attorney (POA)

Additional Topics of Interest:

  • Filing of quarterly reports by mail - Reports will not be processed from 9/12 - 9/20/2020
  • Quarterly contribution payments - Payments will first be applied to penalties assessed on the account then to remaining balance due on the account
  • WebTax & FTP payments - Payments are unable to be processed from 9/12 - 9/20/2020
  • State liability offset holds - No payments will be applied to the account from 9/15 - 9/20/2020
